Santa Anita washes out again

Santa Anita officials decided Friday morning to cancel Fridays racing program because of ongoing drainage problems with the tracks synthetic Cushion Track surface.

Heavy rain hit the track Thursday night, prompting a second consecutive day of canceled races. The cancellation was the fifth since the meet begain on Dec. 26. The track has raced 18 days since then. No decision had been made as of 9 A.M. Pacific time Friday on whether the track would race Saturday, a card that includes four rich Sunshine Millions stakes races.
