RACE 7: WARM SUN AND BREW wound up second after an ideal stalking trip last time out in a sprint at this level. He graduated over a mile on the front end at Del Mar and should be dangerous with his tactical speed. Longshot FREEPORT JOE, who hasn’t won in three years, was a troubled fifth two back in an identical spot and can rally off the speed. SIR PERCIVAL, part of the pace, was a hard-trying second when returning from a three-month break Jan. 10 and has since worked well on the synthetic training track. (3) RACE 8: PLUTARCH finished a lapped-on third behind current rivals Intrepido and Desert Gate after a tardy start the last time he competed on the dirt in the Grade 1 American Pharoah here Oct. 4. Since graduating on the grass Nov. 30 at Del Mar, he has worked impressively here of late and could mow down all the speed under Florent Geroux. The powerful Bob Baffert barn also is sending out favored DESERT GATE, who figures to lead the way along the rail. The Grade 1-placed runner has been holding his own against some formidable rivals in his recent works, namely Litmus Test, Buetane, and Getaway Car. SECURED FREEDOM has recorded several stamina-building works since graduating with ease in a maiden-special sprint with an 88 Beyer Speed Figure on Dec. 28. The son of Practical Joke is bred to run on and retains the red-hot Kazushi Kimura. (3) :: Santa Anita Classic Meet! Get DRF Past Performances, Clocker Reports, and more. RACE 9: STRUCK BY HER got wiped out at the break before rallying from well back to graduate in her North American opener over two next-out maiden-special winners in a six-furlong main turf sprint Jan. 11. Geroux replaces the injured Umberto Rispoli on the diminutive Irish-bred, who has been working nicely on the Tapeta. LA VILLE LUMIERE overcame traffic problems last time to land the one-mile Blue Norther Stakes as the favorite. She was successful sprinting when launching her career last spring and could be one of those milers who excels going down the hill. YOURS SINCERELY was competitive in a host of one-mile stakes before winning a six-furlong allowance/optional claimer most recently and should be a factor with Kimura replacing the sidelined Rispoli.
