Santa Anita: Pick six carryover of $23,991 for Saturday’s card

Barbara D. Livingston Santa Anita's card will start with a $23,991 pick six carryover on Saturday.

Saturday’s blockbuster 10-race program at Santa Anita has a carryover of $23,991 in the $2 pick six after a tricky sequence of winners on Friday’s opening day.

There were four winners of pick six races on Friday with double-digit $2 win payoffs. Miss Midterm ($43.40) was the highest-priced winner. She held off a late run from 3-5 Thebeachisback near the finish. Had Thebeachisback won, the pick six would have been hit.

Saturday’s pick six covers the fifth through 10th races, a sequence that includes the Grade 2 Eddie D Stakes at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course, a maiden race for statebred 2-year-old fillies at six furlongs, the Grade 2 John Henry Turf Championship at 1 1/4 miles, the Grade 1 Goodwood Stakes at 1 1/8 miles, the Grade 3 John C. Harris Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course, and a six-furlong maiden race for statebred fillies and mares at six furlongs on turf.

Before scratches, those races have fields of 9, 9, 8, 9, 10, and 12.
