Santa Anita: Pick six carryover of $18,457 for Saturday’s card
For the third consecutive Saturday, there is a carryover in the $2 pick six at Santa Anita.
The $18,457 carryover was clinched when Miss Donna ($49.20) won Friday’s ninth race. The only horse covered on pick six tickets in the ninth race was Frog, who faded from contention on the turn.
Saturday’s pick six will cover the fifth through 10th races on a program that begins at 1 p.m. Pacific. The pool of new money in the pick six is likely to surpass $120,000.
The pick six races consist of an allowance race for statebred fillies and mares at six furlongs on turf, a $50,000 claiming race for 2-year-old statebred maiden fillies at 5 1/2 furlongs, a maiden race for statebreds at six furlongs on turf, a $12,500 claimer for nonwinners of two at six furlongs, the $100,000 California Flag Handicap for statebreds at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course, and a starter allowance at a mile on turf.

The California Flag Handicap drew a field of seven, including Lonesome Stew, the winner of an allowance race on turf at Del Mar; Big City Lights, a multiple stakes winner who has never raced on the hillside course; and Boss Sully, who was beaten in a stakes at Saratoga during the summer but has a fine sprint record on turf in recent seasons.
Before scratches, the pick six races have fields of 10, 8, 10, 13, 7, and 10.
