Santa Anita Oaks: Field of five likely

ARCADIA, Calif. – Saturday’s $400,000 Santa Anita Oaks has a field of five probable starters – Arethusa, Artemis, Fashion Plate, Honey Ride, and Ria Antonia.
Fashion Plate won the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes in February. Ria Antonia finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies here last fall but was promoted to first when She’s a Tiger was disqualified for causing interference in deep stretch.
The Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks, run over 1 1/16 miles, will be Ria Antonia’s first start for trainer Bob Baffert.
On Sunday, Honey Ride, a maiden race winner March 2, worked six furlongs in 1:13.40. Tyler Baze will ride Honey Ride in the Santa Anita Oaks, trainer John Sadler said.
Moone's My Name eyes Wilshire Stakes
Moone’s My Name, who won the first stakes of her career in Saturday’s American Beauty, will be kept to one-mile turf races this spring, Sadler said.
Sadler said Sunday that the $100,000 Wilshire Stakes over a mile on turf for fillies and mares is likely to be the next start for Moone’s My Name. The Grade 3 Wilshire was previously run at Hollywood Park. Moone’s My Name was third in the 2013 Wilshire.
In the American Beauty, Moone’s My Name ($10.80) closed from seventh in a field of eight to win by a length over Unusual Hottie in 1:33.23. The American Beauty was Moone’s My Name’s first start since a sixth-place finish in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes on Feb. 17.
“We were really happy with her race,” Sadler said. “She really is a miler. She stumbled in her last race, and it was better than it looked. If we can get her a [Grade] 3 win, we’d be thrilled.”
Owned by the Batchelor Family Trust, Moone’s My Name, by Intikhab, has won 8 of 23 starts and earned $199,483.
