ARCADIA, Calif. - There is a carryover of $97,983 in Sunday’s $2 pick six at Santa Anita, and the entire pool must be distributed. Sunday is the final day of the track’s winter-spring meeting, which began in late December. With the closing day, there are mandatory payouts in the early and late pick five, pick six, and super high five, as well as the Coast-to-Coast Pick Five and Sunset Six that link races between Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita. The $1 Sunset Six has a carryover of $54,825. The bet covers the last three races at Gulfstream Park and last three races at Santa Anita. The $1 super high five, requiring the selection of the first five finishers of the last race at Santa Anita, has a carryover of $36,476. The carryovers were clinched when Peppermint Dash ($31) rallied late to win the 12th race, a maiden race on turf. Peppermint Dash caught Somerset West, who was covered in the pick six. With a hearty carryover in the pick six and the closing-day payout, the pool of new money may surpass $600,000. The bet covers the fifth through 10th races on a 10-race program that begins at noon, Pacific. The pick six races have fields of 9, 10, 9, 8, 11 and 10 before scratches. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
