SPOT PLAYSThe $62.5k claim of GOLDEN ITIZ (#1, 6-5) two starts back served its purpose, which was to run in the G3 Longacres Mile. He finished third and earned $30k. Now he drops to $32k claiming as the fastest horse. If he wins and gets claimed, it is a wash. He is a pick five single. Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSFirst-timer BIJOUX may go favored, but experienced maiden BOSSERETTE (#3, 5-2) might be the gamble. Her first turf try was better than looked. She was in tight, uncomfortable, shuffled, wide and green. She should improve second start down the hill, at higher odds. Closer Looks >> |

VULNERABLE FAVORITESTILL UNBROKEN (#6, 5-2) certainly showed speed and talent in her debut here Oct. 3, dueling and finishing 2nd. Remember, though, the Beyer didn’t come back all that strong (45), she beat today’s rival Black Tie but just a length and it’s not as if much was expected as she was sent off at big odds (39-1). The odds you get here figure to be less than 1/10th that. SPOT PLAYSA route for 2-year-old maiden-claimers is a good spot to take a shot at a price. CODE OF PLEASURE (#4, 5-1) ran like he needed a start in his debut. He had decent drills going in, made a small middle move, and just went one-paced. Tab for an upset by the second-time starter. SPOT PLAYHURRY HOME CLOVER (#3, 5-2) may have turned the corner. After being claimed by Spawr this spring at BHP he put up a couple solid outings at DMR. He then broke through, gamely winning here Sept. 27. Usually once trainer Spawr gets ‘em on the right path they tend to stay there and off that nice win he’s moved up in value with 2 big works since including a very strong 4fs in :46.80 here Oct. 19 (2nd fastest of 65 at that distance that day). Up the ladder. Closer Looks >> |
