Santa Anita: DRF Plus handicapping report for October 19, 2013
Race 1 |
Spot PlayFirst-time starter SERGEANT O’ROURKE (#3, 8-5) looks like a “single” in the first leg of the pick five (14 percent takeout). Trainer Peter Miller does super with debut 2-year-olds. Minimal value, likely winner. -Brad Free

Race 2 |
Spot PlayINTOCLASSYMISCHIEF (#2, 6-1) had a solid debut run last January behind decent Treasury Bill, & he seems set to improve off fading Oct. 5 2nd-out comeback run. Blinkers on worth noting, but most of all, pedigree suggests a longer turf sprint will be perfect fit. - Marcus Hersh

Spot PlayThe 10-for-26 LORD VRONSKY (#3, 3-1) wired California-bred N1X foes last time on dirt at the Fair, and also runs well on grass. His versatile style allows him to adapt to pace; he can upset favorite OLYMPIC BLUE. -Brad Free

Spot PlayROYALY DUNN (#3, 8-1) flashed talent when 4th in her BSR debut she then came here for a race like this Oct. 6 and blew the start. She rushed up to stalk inside but paid the price and hit the brakes. It’s good to see no panicky drop by Dominguez and that Bejarano sees fit to stay. A better start can make all the difference. -Michael Hammersly
Vulnerable FavoriteFIELD REPORT (#1, 8-5) has never been down the hill & has poor rail draw for first try over the unusual course. Settles for 2nd even when he does fire, & far from certain to stay the 6.5 furlongs. - Marcus Hersh
