SPOT PLAYSThe runner-up finish by ALL ON THE TABLE (#2, 5-2) at the Fair was terrific, pressing a fast pace over a tiring track. She shortens to six furlongs and can be gone. -Brad Free Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSFirst-time starter LADY OF THE NILE (#1, 4-1) has worked well for the Bob Baffert stable, and is by a promising first-crop sire Pioneerofthe Nile. -Brad Free Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSLILLY’S PERFECT (#8, 7-2) looked super blasting $25K foes on the BHP sod June 14 and was claimed. When she resurfaced at DMR for $12,500 she won easily again, this time on synthetic ground. Not only did Mulhall claim her back that day, but now she gives her a most-encouraging multiple-level class hike, returns her to turf and has Bejarano staying put after he was up for those 2 big wins. Oh, and there’s no layoff this time either. -Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |

SPOT PLAYSSECRETSATMIDNIGHT (6-1) One should always give long look to higher-priced of uncoupled Baffert entries – have seen them win too many times. This colt had decent short-sprint debut back in January that suggested a 2-turn trip like his would work better. Drills look good even by Baffertian standards. VULNERABLE FAVORITECRUCERO (#2, 5-2) certainly showed route ability at DMR when 2nd and 3rd in a pair of races there in August. Trouble is, we’re not racing on synthetic this time and while he ran well on dirt at CRC back in May he didn’t show quite the same verve, particularly when you compare Beyers (78, 85 at DMR; 66 at CRC). He faces some other talented colts this time, too. -Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |
Race 7 |
SPOT PLAYSSEGWAY (#4, 4-1) been on the sidelines for 11 months after ok effort in a very solid preliminary allowance race; barn going well to start the meet. Closer Looks >> |
Race 8 |
SPOT PLAYSA sharp last effort by MAKE MORE MONEY (#4, 5-2) makes her a likely winner of this maiden-20 sprint. Her runner-up finish was flattered when the winner won again. Closer Looks >> |
