Vulnerable Favorite
CUNEO (#1, 8-5) comes off a romping win (by 10 lengths) here April 20. He’s freaked like that before (won by 8 1/2 here in January). That last big win, however, came vs. cheaper N2L foes so he’s up in price and facing N3L foes, and there are at least a couple other real quick guys in here who can cause him problems early as well.

Spot Play
JOHNNY REB (#3, 2-1) may be a timely claim by Baltas. Not only is trainer Baltas sharp off the claim (15%) after plunking down $16K for this guy he’s given him some time off and returns him with a drop. It’s only a slight drop, mind you, not necessary one that sends up warning flags. The 3yo has some solid recent works and he could prove elusive on the stretchout as his ample sprint speed may lead to him being up front alone and able to dictate the race.
