Santa Anita: DRF Plus handicapping report for June 12, 2014

Spot PlayMISSING GROOM (#2, 8-5) comes here off the ultimate equipment change (gelded). This son of Grade 1 winner Colonel John has flashed talent and maybe being gelded can help him deliver on the promise. He’s certainly been doing well in the mornings since his last race with a couple bullets. He may also get a boost with the class move as he goes from facing open foes to facing Cal-breds only. -Michael Hammersly

Vulnerable FavoriteLA PEQUENA GIGI (#3, 2-1) looks headed the right way, coming off a sharp 3rd for $75K (moved up to 2nd via DQ) on the hill here May 11. It’s worth noting, though, that not only does she figure a short price but they drop her further in price, and they don’t give anything away out here. And while she ran well she’s actually yet to finish better 3rd under the wire. She also will be taking on a few others in here who drop and who could thus be dangerous. -Michael Hammersly
