Spot PlayFacing weak maiden-20s, comebacker FEARSOME CHARISMA (#9, 15-1) could upset. ’CHARISMA worked well for his return; trainer Leonard Powell is rolling. -Brad Free Vulnerable FavoriteINDYGO ANDY (#8, 6-5) may deserve favorite’s status off a 2nd and 3rd in his last 2 starts, both at this level, but it’s not as if those 2 efforts were overwhelming. After all, he got beat 3 1/4 and 8 3/4 lengths in those 2 outings, respectively, so it's not as if he was a real threat in the lane in either. And while his Beyer improved last time (64) not only does that not give him any real speed-figure edge, but it’s not even the top dirt fig in the field.-Michael Hammersly Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayDAY OF FURY (#1, 3-1) is a better colt than his immature debut two weeks ago suggests. He is likely to show more speed second time out. -Brad Free Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayAnother L. Powell longshot, NO CONTINGENCY (#2, 10-1) can upset. Overmatched in an allowance route vs. older, he drops and shortens to a sprint. -Brad Free Closer Looks >> |

Spot PlayWILL HE AMAZE (#6, 8-1) was no factor in his last 2, yes, but you can be a bit forgiving about those. Not only were they his first 2 starts vs. winners, but the Dec. 1 run came for twice this tag on turf. Then Jan. 9, when dropped to this level, he was asked to sprint for the first time and blew the start and basically had no chance. To his credit he at least kept to his task and passed a few rivals. Well, he’s back routing today and note his lone win came on this track at this distance Nov. 3. A return to that performance level can surely make him a player and it doesn’t hurt he's facing a very weak bunch.-Michael Hammersly |
