Spot PlayCHEEKY STONE (#11, 10-1) has upset potential. She made a mild move into the lane routing at this level here Dec. 29 but couldn’t sustain and faded to 4th. Still, it showed a couple things – it showed she could make a run and that she handled dirt. Maybe the mile trip was beyond her scope. If that’s the case, today’s distance cutback to 7fs may be just what the Dr. ordered. It’s also encouraging Hofmans adds blinkers and there is a snappy :47.40 work here Jan. 16 (2nd fastest of 37 at 4fs that day) to indicate she’s feeling spry. -Michael Hammersly
