Spot PlayCERNOBBIO (#1, 5-2) ran well finishing second both turf routes, while compromised by a wide trip last out in his California debut. COMMON CONFUSION (#5, 9-2) is first off the claim, with a turf pedigree, and an alternative if the top choice is overbet. -Brad Free

Spot PlayEUROCLYDON (#6, 5-2) lost her race in the post parade last time. She washed out and merely ran around the course behind the front-running winner. She gets another chance. -Brad Free
Spot PlayAY AY AY (#5, 2-1) showed first time out she’s got turf ability. This daughter of top-class turf miler Whatsthescript was asked to do something very difficult in her Jan. 10 debut – face winners. However, while in against $50K claimers she was a bit rank before rider Baze got her to settle at the back of the pack, then came with a smart run only to get jammed up late to finish 4th. Still, she got beat just a half-length, again, by WINNERS. Well, with that experience under her belt and today’s drop in to face maidens (note she is NOT offered for a tag this time) she can get her diploma. Her price means you won’t get rich on her by herself but she could prove the linchpin to your multi-race wagers. -Michael Hammersly

Race 8 |
Vulnerable FavoriteSWISS PEAK (#8, 3-1) may go favored based on a solid debut run (3rd to eventual SW Tilde) and the big drop (her lone run came vs. straight maidens) but it’s worth noting that outing came at BHP in May 2012 – she hasn’t been seen since. Not only does that mean there’s a long layoff to consider but that run also came on synthetic so it’s also first-time dirt today as well. In other words, there are hurdles to be sure and she certainly figures undervalued. -Michael Hammersly
