Spot PlaySprint-to-route LA CASADORA (#2, 4-1) can upset this route for maiden-30 fillies. She finished last against tougher in her comeback, but now drops and stretches out. She is bred for longer, and has a history of improving second start back. -Brad Free CHICAGO ANGEL (#1, 5-2) looks headed the right way now that she’s found her trip and level but while she ran 2nd here Jan. 19 in a spot similar to this it’s not as if she was a factor in the final furlong (beaten 5 1/4 lengths). And even though her prior try in a race like this here Dec. 29 was better (ran 3rd) again she was no factor in the lane (beaten 10 lengths) and instead of getting 7-1 and 10-1 as you got on her in those 2 outings now you’re looking at 5-2 or less -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayAKISS FORAROSE (#2, 3-1) looks well situated. She was a nice 2nd in 2 races like this here in the fall. Her last 2 starts were so-so but remember, too, both came vs. tougher optional claimers and it’s not as if she was disgraced. She takes a significant drop in class and as noted above, she showed here in the fall this level, surface and trip suit her just fine. Yes, she may be 0 for 13 on turf but she’s run enough good races on the sod to show she handles it and today’s drop may be just what the Dr. ordered. -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayKOZANI (#9, 3-1) is ready to win, third time out. Third in his sprint debut, runner-up last time at a mile, he shortens in distance and is perfectly drawn outside. -Brad Free Closer Looks >> |
