Spot PlayGOSPEL MUSIC (#8, 5-2) dueled before weakening just a bit to finish 3rd in her first try on turf, which came on this hillside course Jan. 31. Not only was it a fine first try on turf, but she showed he handles the hill, fits well at the level and has the speed to be in the race from the start. He can surely benefit from that outing and he faces some suspect boys who do not have his proven turf ability. Oh, and Dollase adds blinkers (2 for last 7, 29%, doing so). Plenty to like, well, except the likely short price, but he could be your linchpin for your multi-race wagers. -Michael Hammersly
Vulnerable FavoriteVOLKONSKY (#4, 5-2) may be favored off a decent main-track 2nd here Feb. 14 at this level, but if this stays on turf note he finished well behind a few of these in a grass race at this level here the race prior (Jan. 25). Lone win came on turf, yes, so he handles the sod but it’s not as if he’s been a real factor in the lane in his 4 grass starts vs. winners (beaten 5 1/4, 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 3 1/2 lengths) so he may well be undervalued here considering all that. -Michael Hammersly

Spot PlayTIZAPALOOZA (#2, 7-2) trained well into his debut, but broke slow, steadied, and merely ran around the course. He worked a sharp five furlongs since, and should move up a ton with a race under his belt. This race is scheduled for turf. -Brad Free

Spot PlayTURN ON (#6, 7-2) raced evenly in her debut, a slow-pace route dominated by speed. This one-mile maiden race is likely to unfold at a pace that would flatter a closer. It is scheduled for turf. -Brad Free
