Race 2

Spot Play

WARREN’S SALLYIZED (#2, 7-2) stretches out following two even-paced sprints, with a pedigree that gives him a right to run long. The morning line price is right. -Brad Free

Race 3

Vulnerable Favorite

ELTONINADRESS (#4, 9-5) returns after nearly 2 months off after rattling off 5 straight good outings, including a big win for $10K here Oct. 24. Hess Jr. saw fit to claim her for $10K out of her last start when 3rd here Jan. 2 but as noted she hasn’t run since and he drops her after the layoff. While she’s the one to beat they don’t give anything away out here so the layoff and subsequent drop off the claim are cause for pause, particularly when you’re looking at likely a short price. -Michael Hammersly

Race 7

Spot Play

The only knock on “probable winner” SAN ONOFRE is price – he is 6-5 and going down. Meanwhile, stakes winner EXPLAIN (#3, 4-1) has returned to form at age 5 and moves up sharply in class following a highly rated $28k claiming win. Upset? -Brad Free

Race 8

Spot Play

ONE MORE (#7, 5-2) looks ready to turn the corner. They thought enough of her to debut her vs. MALES in the Willard Proctor at BHP last June 15 (chasing home Kobe’s Back, impressive winner of the Grade 2 San Vicente here Sunday). After that came a dull run there and then nearly 6 months off. She came back with another so-so outing on dirt here Dec. 29 but things changed when she moved to turf and this distance here Jan. 18. From a similar tough post she showed the speed to press the pace, took the lead the lane and looked like the winner until promising Euro raider Practising ran her down in the final half-furlong. She doesn’t face a rival like that here, and any sort of move forward now that she has a feel for the footing and for this trip should do the trick. -Michael Hammersly
