Spot PlaySOMETHINGABOUTHER (#8, 7-2) was a good 4th in a strong N1X going a mile here Jan. 18. They then tried sprinting with her down the hill but after chasing fast splits she gave way, so that may not be her game. She’s back to routing today, a game at which she’s proven. She has the tactical speed to get position and while she’s way outside there’s plenty of time from the break to the first turn for Talamo to get over and not get hung out to dry. It can all add up to a bounce-back run at a decent price. -Michael Hammersly
Vulnerable FavoriteMACIAS (#8, 3-1) returns to turf which may be his best surface and all 4 turf wins have come here including a win down the hill Jan. 20. But he then came back with a dull dirt run Feb. 15 and hasn’t been seen since so while he deserves ample respect on this surface that last outing and subsequent vacation gives cause for pause, particularly when his price figures short. -Michael Hammersly
