Race 1 Spectacular Proof Newcomer hails from G1 victor Idiot Proof who banked 1.29 million and whose offspring have won 2 of 10 debuts; the dam was without victory in 3 attempts; there are no winning siblings to mention.   Sixy Eddie Yet to finish in the money but she has a bit of gate speed in her favor and her recent work tab includes an atypical drill at 7 furlongs; generous odds are certain again and perhaps she can land a minor share if the firsters are lackluster.   Grace Victoria She turned in a fine drill from the gate only 6 days ago; her sire won a G1 and 837K; descendants of Square Eddie are 2 for 23 as far as winning their first test; the dam went 5 for 24 banking 43K; there are no winning sibs to highlight.   Flyin for a Livin Progeny of High Brite, a G2 winner who netted 1.15 million, have tallied in 75 out of 711 initial starts; the dam lost her only race; there are no winning siblings to report; the trainer has won with longshot beginners.   B Positive Definite improvement to the latest a.m. move at five-eighths; her sire won 340K including G1 success; offspring of Thewayyouare have won 1 of 25 debuts; the dam won 6 of 34 and 208K; sib to 315K earner Bruce's Dream.   Bonus Spin Sharp maiden voyage last month when a clear-cut second; her sire won 2.67 million including victory at the G1 level; the mom won 4 of 15 and 141K; among the winning siblings is 60K earner Cherry On the Cake. - Jim Kachulis   Race 2 Zenji This has to be considered a tough spot for him to land in after being claimed for 25k from his latest start as he's yet to show us that he has what it takes to be competitive at this level of competition.   Tones (IRE) Stakes winning 5-year-old was sharp when coming up a nose short in his first start back from a layoff in his latest outing and that level of performance can get him into the mix against these; he does have to be careful to avoid an early pace confrontation, but he's shown the ability to tap the brakes a little bit early on if need be.   Candy's Sunrise He has a fine pedigree for turf and it's interesting to see that this will be his first start for the Mullins barn after a 25k claim; if they can help him get back on top of his game, his best effort places him squarely in the mix.   Koast Have to be at least mildly concerned by the sub par performance he showed up with in his latest outing, but this 5-year-old has some back class to call upon, and three of his four wins have been earned over this turf course.   Spring Up Have to wonder if his connections are using this sprint race as a steppingstone to a longer event the next time around, but this colt has to be listed among the contenders when considering his strong turf form; runner up from latest won next out here on 5/24 going 1 1/4m in a G2 with a 96 Beyer.   Mind the Master Like to see what he did sprinting down the hill just two starts back and have to respect what this barn has been doing with recent claims; winner from latest won next out here on 5/25 going 1m over turf vs. 75-65k claimers with a 92 Beyer. - Brian Pochman Race 4 Patty's Place Sire is 2-for-23 with 2-year-old debut runners; is out of a 4-for-15 dam (102K) who won her 2nd-career start producing 4 winners from 6 other foals to race including 1-for-22 Bringon the Wain (70K) who didn't win until race 18.   Global Hart Any runner going MSW-to-maiden claiming (the biggest class drop in racing) is capable of a giant wakeup call; had some gate issues in last when a complete non factor; most-recent 4F workout was her best ever; needs a quicker start from the gate to make any impact.   Positivo Owns the best worktab among the 1sters; sire is 11-for-90 with 2-year-old debut runners; is out of a 2-for-10 dam (50K) who graduated in start 4; she produced 4 winners from 4 other foals to race including 65K-earner full-sibling Off Kilter (3-for-12) who won his 2010-GG career debut.   Lady Dash Debut race is a field-best Beyer speed figure; regressd the number 2nd-time out but benefits catching a bunch of inexperienced runners; rallied past a few in last so the added half furlong for this adds to the appeal; the trainer is just 1-for-18 with 2-year-old starters since 2013.   Lucy Lou Gambler Solis' other 1ster Patty's Place has worked faster; sire is 5-for-49 with 2-year-old debut runners; is out of a 2-for-8 dam (30K) who won her 4th-career start; she produced 1 winner from 2 other foals to race (2-for-8 Onceandonlyloceman 37K) who won his 2nd start.   Is This Georgia Sire is 2-for-8 with 2-year-old debut runners; is out of a 4-0-0-1 dam (6K) who's only other foal to race is 2-0-0-0 Samatt; steady worktab but is racing for an 0-for-14 debut trainer since 2013; will be taking a wait and see approach.   Don'tmesswithness Seems the one to catch; was scratched from an easier 4.5F race in a 25K-maiden claimer June 19 OTP 5; was bet down to 7-2 odds 1st-time out so somebody liked her; the fact that she shows up here instead of Pleasanton is a sign of confidence from the barn that she will fire a huge effort today. - Art Gropper Race 5 Sawyer's Hill He was favored to get the job done in his first start over turf in his latest outing, and he made it look pretty easy while drawing off to win by more than six lengths; obviously he's faced with a much tougher test this time around, but there is potential for better living here at the moment.   Toowindytohaulrox Stakes placed colt hasn't run a bad race from three turf starts and he shares the best last race Beyer Speed Figure in here with Home Run Kitten; this is his first start beyond 6 1/2f but he commands a good deal of respect based on what he's shown so far.   Frensham His overall form has been solid, but his best Beyer Speed Figure was earned racing over the main track here, and he will need to show more than he has in his two turf starts to threaten the top contenders in here.   Home Run Kitten Multiple stakes placed colt sports some of the stronger turf form in here and he benefits from the services of the hot-riding Talamo; he's shown the ability to adapt to any early pace scenario and going to look for him to be tough to deal with once again.   Argyle Cut Stakes placed colt has only finished worse than third once from eight starts, but this is his toughest turf test to date, and he will have to be ready to take his game to another level if he's to get over on the top contenders in here.   Forever Juanito He's a stakes winner over this turf course and like to see the route experience he gained racing over the main track here in his latest start; he an interesting option to consider, and the next time he runs a bad race will be the first time.   Reno Rebel This has a chance to prove to be a tough assignment for his second turf start, but he clearly has some ability to work with, and he ran well in his first route attempt in his latest outing; interesting to see Smith get the call for this.   Home School (IRE) He was G3 stakes placed racing over turf in Ireland as a 2-year-old, and have to respect what he's done in his first two starts as a 3-year-old; it might be worth noting the presence of Baze aboard another in here, but this colt has the look of a contender.   Aotearoa Stakes winner has run well in three of his five starts over turf and he earned a career best Beyer Speed Figure in his latest outing; improving 3-year-old can make some noise in this spot, especially if he gets a fast and contested early pace to work off of. - Brian Pochman Race 6 Presiding Justice Moves to the fence for another crack at the level after just missing in his return from a few months on the shelf; barn boasts a nice winning clip with runners second off the break and this guy's last out is as good as any of these; with just a couple of starts under his belt he has a right to get better and the pace should allow him to do it; contender.   Justification Gelding got on track too late while making his first start in nearly a full year at this level; he was again given a little time and returned to work ok earlier this month, but he'd probably appreciate some more pace up top than he's likely to get in here.   Solid Wager Statebred tries open company after a solid runner up finish in his first crack on dirt while in with restricted runners; gelding gets off the fence which should help given his style, but he's another who would like to get some pace in front of him.   Mavericks Gun Just missed at odds on when dropped in for a tag at a slightly longer trip last time, but he earned a big number in the process; though he'll shorten up for this his drill last week suggests he won't be too far out of this one early and he does figure to be rolling late; huge threat in his first off the claim by a sharp barn.   Grand Humor Wired maidens 2 back before trying winners and the hill for the first time last out; gelding should again be prominent from the bell but he draws outside what appears to be his main pace rival and will likely have to work pretty hard from the outset; prefer others.   Let It Be Minister Earned a light number in besting cheap maidens at a big price in his debut run here last month; colt will see quicker splits in front of him here which will likely put him in chase mode from the bell and don't know if that will help him take the step forward he'd need to go with these winners; have to side against the repeat.   Crimson Giant Switches surfaces after offering little again down the hillside course; statebred will get back in with open company while moving to the main track over which he offered little in his prior couple of tries; late runner hasn't been a serious threat in a while and though he owns some back numbers that would put him in the mix here, he'll need to take a significant step forward off what he's been running to get involved.   Cinmars Dance Lightly raced colt will turn back to sprint in his first start of the year after hitting the shelf off a late running effort in a statebred stake here in the fall; colt broke his maiden fresh so we know he can fire off drills and he has a right to show up much faster in his first start in more than 7 months; don't overlook.   No Ez Money Lightly raced 5 year old gives the level another shot after coughing up a clear midstretch lead in his first start of the year; gelding draws outside here and that's going to make it tough for him to flaunt his lick but he does figure to be tighter with his first crack at the level behind him.   Fight the Power Showed nothing from the fence at the level in his local debut run first time off this barn's claim and now he'll move outside while adding shades; gelding should be able to secure his preferred tracking trip from here in a field that contains a good amount of early lick and his recent drill suggests an improved effort is on tap; he's the one they'll have to hold off. - Steve Grabowski Race 7 Appealing Tale Winless on grass; his last turf start was a fade to Horizontalyspeakin; away since finishing far behind the winner who repeated in a CD-Grade 1 stakes with a 101 Beyer speed figure; SA-dirt Mile 2-back represents a field-best Beyer when edged by the winner who repeated in an SA Grade 3 stakes with a 104 Beyer.   Horizontalyspeakin SA ,500 hitter on grass; he has been posting dirt bullet workouts so seems to be coming into this strongly enough; should appreciate the class relief from graded stakes; the runner-up finisher from last Beyered 93 in a next-out GG-G3 stakes win.   You Know I Know April, 2013, was the last time he raced on grass; if can repeat the January, 2013, SA grass Mile has every chance to make an impact here; the 3-back winner repeated in the Breeders' Cup Classic with a 112 Beyer; been best during career on synthetic surfaces but did not fire in latest; Nakatani shows up here when seemingly having other options.   Unbridled Command 26%-winning long-layoff trainer takes all the indecision about him racing well enough off the bench to win away; exits a best-last-race Beyer in a key race; the winner runner-up and 4th-place finishers from last all won next out; the winner a 105 Beyer in a next-out Grade 1-stakes win, the runner-up finsher took a 1Million-dollar race next out while the 4th-place finisher posted a 94 Beyer in a GP alw. victory   County Lineman Being winess on turf does not help the confidence level but he has been close in recent defeats; stretches back out noting the not-very-enticing mild rally-flattened out SA grass Mile 3 back; the rider of last and most-recent win jockey sides with You Know I Know for this.   Fast Track Exits a career-low Beyer in his 1st start ever on anything but firm turf; obviously did not take to the yielding conditions when finishing far behind Horizontalyspeakin; beat the 3-back runner-up finisher who Beyered 74 in a next-out TUP-optional-claiming win.   Trend Clearly must fire better than in his SA grass debut when fading; turf record includes 12 minor awards; when he does fire well it often produces a supporting role; the 2-back show finisher Beyered 80 in a next-out RP-OPC win.   Smart Ellis Freshened up off his lowest Beyer since 2011; the winner from last repeated in an SA-Grade 1 with a 107 Beyer; career-best speed figure was accomplished at longer than 1 Mile; while he is eligible to improve 2nd time off the long layoff he has a long way to move forward to make any impact here.   Te Rapa 139 days since his stakes win at 1F longer defeating the runner-up finisher who Beyered 87 in a next-out SA-OPC win; getting up in time at 1 Mile is the major concern but am expecting a top effort right off the bench; in his fresh-June, 2013, race he just missed.   Safety Belt (ARG) Favored loss sprinting; owns a 4-0-1-0 record during in races at 1 Mile or over which is not very enticing; was dueled into defeat in last so have to assume he will be a pace presence again; the 3-back winner made it 4 in a row with 107-104-103 Beyers including a G3-stakes win; know him early but unsure about late. - Art Gropper Race 8 Jojo Warrior She took all the money while sprinting in the Miss Preakness at Pimlico last month and again lost her best shot at the break and now she'll move to the fence for the initial stretchout try; filly is bred on the top side of her pedigree to like the route and the dam dropped a couple of route winners including G1 SW miler and 286K earner A Z Warrior; she doesn't catch a particularly tough bunch in this spot; it's a long way from 3/4s of a mile to 8 1/2 furlongs, but this outfit does stretch them out well; contender.   Live for Now Maiden tackles winners off a solid second place finish against non winners last time; while that number fits and she is on the improve, she was no match for one of these 2 starts back in her return to this circuit; she's kin to 3.9 million earner and multiple G1 SW Point Given, the 2001 Horse of the Year; maybe for a minor share, but she spots these a big edge in company lines.   Arethusa G1 SP filly broke through in style while taking an ungraded route stake for her initial score last spring at Hollywood but she's yet to get back to the winner's circle in 3 subsequent spins; she has been keeping rather good company this year and though she doesn't have much early lick there does seems to be enough of that commodity to set up her run today; one to beat on the class relief.   Delta Flower Held on to take a sprint stake in her first local spin off the freshening and now she'll tackle 2 turns for the initial time; expect she'll be asked for speed from the bell and she has been working well for this one; pedigree suggests the added ground will be to her liking and they'll probably have to come and get her to win.   La Mejor Fiesta Filly hasn't shown any early interest this year but she's also had gate issues in both of those stakes starts; she did middle move off the freshening in the G2 Black Eyed Susan and the barn boasts some recent sharp numbers with its runners second back from the break; reuniting with the pilot aboard for her last score, she's worth a look.   Front Range Barn's second runner in here gets back to the main track after failing to seriously factor in her turf debut; maiden score over some older rivals 2 back earner a solid number and she did work well here during the week; dam took a couple of local G1 stakes routes in her day and this gal figures to improve with racing, but she'll get a big class test in this spot.   Fleet of Gold Didn't have much to say in the 10 panel turf heat last time out and now she'll get back to the main track for her third start of the year; she hasn't run that fast this year but her dam was a multiple G1 SW router and 1.7 million earner who got better with age so maybe she'll offer some more here for a barn that hits at a big clip with its runners switching surfaces.   Stop Smiling She's the second runner in here for a barn that does nice work on the surface switch; filly rode soft splits into a turf score over cheaper at Golden Gate and she returned to work on the slow side for her first crack on the dirt; looks to have her work cut out for her today. - Steve Grabowski   Race 9 Plus Value Sire wins with approximately 14% of his first-time starters and with approximately 12% of his turf starters, and dam was unraced; this filly is a 1/2 to multiple graded stakes winner Silentio (4-13, 681k over turf); well connected filly has pedigree appeal and a few of her works look sharp.   Venetian She's out of a G3 stakes placed dam who won once from six turf starts for 33k, and this filly might appreciate getting a chance to see what she can do sprinting over turf; if a fast and contested early pace develops, she can make some noise through the lane.   Pouncerounddaclock 200k purchase is by a strong turf sire and she's out of a stakes winning dam who won 3 of 7 starts for 91k, including 2 of 3 turf starts for 58k; she has plenty of appeal in this spot after an encouraging career debut.   Vintage Brees Sire wins with approximately 10% of his first-time starters and with approximately 13% of his turf starters, and multiple graded stakes winning dam won 18 of 24 starts for 693k, and she didn't make a turf start; this barn has been live at this meeting and this filly looks like she's been doing some nice work in the a.m.   Alexis Tangier Sire wins with approximately 11% of his turf starters and multiple graded stakes winning dam won 9 of 18 starts for 522k, including 9 of 16 turf starts for 521k; this miss is a 1/2 to G2 winner Schiaparelli (5-8, 266k over turf) and G1 stakes placed Vionnet (3-8, 171k over turf); Stevens has won with 7 of 20 (35%) mounts for this barn in 2014.   Spy Girl Sire wins with approximately 15% of his turf starters and dam won 2 of 11 starts for 36k, and she didn't make a turf start; this filly has shown us that she owns a good deal of early speed and Maldonado has won with 4 of 13 (31%) mounts for this barn at the current meeting.   Lindy Hoppin She was much improved in her turf debut at second asking when nearly getting the job done at 90-1, but that was against 50-40k maiden claimers, and it remains to be seen if she can be as effective sprinting on grass.   Williams Bay Sire wins with approximately 16% of his first-time starters and with approximately 15% of his turf starters, and stakes placed dam won 4 of 17 starts for 136k, including 0-for-5 over turf; this filly is a 1/2 to G3 stakes placed Formaggio (5-30, 179k, including 3 of 21 turf starts for 97k).   Reverchon Sire wins with approximately 7% of his turf starters and dam won once from seven starts for 16k, and she didn't make a turf start; runner up from debut won next out at SA on 6/1 going 5 1/2f vs. MSW rivals with a 78 Beyer.   Wild Caroline Sire wins with approximately 15% of his turf starters and dam won once from 16 starts for 17k, and she didn't make a turf start; winner from debut won next out at BSR on 9/13 going 7f in a 50k stakes with a 69 Beyer, and runner up won next out at Dmr on 9/2 going 5 1/2f vs. MSW rivals with a 77 Beyer.   Ladysgotgame Sire wins with approximately 10% of his first-time starters and with approximately 14% of his turf starters, and multiple stakes winning dam won 5 of 12 starts for 292k, including 0-for-4 over turf; this filly is a 1/2 to Nospeightintended (2-9, 57k over turf); this barn can be live with a firster and her works look sharp.   Garnisheed Wages She ran well going a mile in her career debut over the Golden Gate turf course and it's interesting to see her turning back in distance while adding blinkers for this; she appears to be well meant with Nakatani getting the call. - Brian Pochman
