Santa Anita carryover reaches $478,072

Steve Andersen|Oct 16, 2004

ARCADIA, Calif. - Longshots wins by Our Mango and Cozy Guy on Saturday has created a carryover of $478,072 for Sunday's pick six at Santa Anita.

The pick six covers the fourth through nine races on Sunday's nine-race program. It will be worthwhile to check the weather conditions in Southern California on Sunday. There was a threat of rain on Saturday night into Sunday morning.

There are few changes in the pick six.

The fourth race is run over seven furlongs for 3-year-old claimers. Cahill Mango, who drew the rail, is the 7-5 favorite on the morning-line.

The fifth race is run over six furlongs for 2-year-old maiden claimers. There are 13 entrants, led by My Boy Joey, the 9-5 morning line favorite. The only other horses at 10-1 or less on the morning line are Proud Ringer (5-1) and Uptownkindofguy and Classy Lover (both 6-1).

The sixth race is scheduled for about 6 1-2 furlongs on the hillside turf course. Rain could force this race to the main track. Trevite is 3-1 on the morning-line in an open race.

The seventh race is run over seven furlongs for $14,000 to $16,000 claimers. Zoolu Night (3-1), West War (4-1), and Spend Spend Spend (9-2) are the top contenders.

The eighth race is the $150,000 Oak Tree Derby over 1 1-8 miles on turf. Greek Sun, second in the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park in August, but unplaced in the Man o War Stakes at Belmont Park last month, is 5-2 on the morning line. Trained by Bobby Frankel, Grek Sun most beat top contenders Borrego, Imperialism, Semi Lost and Terroplane.

The final race is run over 5 1-2 furlongs for 2-year-old maiden claimers. Irish Lucky is scratched, leaving 12 entrants. Belbart is 5-2 on the morning-line.
