Santa Anita carryover: $570,000

Steve Andersen|Apr 08, 2007

ARCADIA, Calif. There is a pick six carryover of more than $570,000 for Sunday's program at Santa Anita, created by a string of longshots on Saturday's Santa Anita Derby program.

Saturday's pick six was so tricky that Santa Anita announced there would be a carryover with only four of the six legs completed.

Sunday's pick six covers the fourth through ninth races. There are few early changes in the pick six races, which all have fields of eight or more entrants. The program begins at 12:30 p.m.

The pick six begins with a six-furlong race for 3-year-old maiden claimers. There are eight runners in a field led by Pick Vic.

The fifth race is a one-mile maiden race for 3-year-olds on turf. Headcoach, Smart of War and Band of Thunder have been scratched from the also-eligible list. Lonely Highway is likely to be favored in a race that lacks a clear second choice.

The sixth race is a sprint over seven furlongs for $18,000 to $20,000 claimers. In a field of eight, Quietly Go, who has drawn the outside, is the 5-2 favorite on the morning line.

There are two stakes on the program the Pro or Con Handicap for California-bred females over a mile on turf and the San Pedro Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs for 3-year-olds.

The Pro or Con Handicap is led by Dancing General, who is searching for her first stakes win. She figures to be one of the shortest prices of the day.

The San Pedro Stakes is a more open race. Abalanche, Texas Voyager, Principle Secret and Idiot Proof will head the betting.

The final race is run over 5 1/2 furlongs for maiden claimers. Hoist the Sail is scratched, leaving 11 entrants. Gotta Getcha is the 8-5 favorite on the morning line.
