Santa Anita carryover at $231,863

ARCADIA, Calif. - There is a massive one-day pick six carryover of $231,863 for Thursday's eight-race program at Santa Anita.

A string of tricky longshots were too difficult for bettors to find on Monday at Santa Anita.

Thursday's pick six consists entirely of sprints, covering the third through eighth races.

The pick six begins with a $10,000 claimer over 5 1-2 furlongs, which drew nine runners. Flying Bearcat, who won at this level on Jan. 15, must beat the class droppers Trish's Diamond, Beau, and Love That Red, a former Grade 1 winner.

There are 12 fillies and mares entered in the fourth race, a sprint for $35,000 to $40,000 claimers on the hillside turf course. Tiz Royalty, Champagne Girl and Red Opal are top contenders.

The fifth race is run over six furlongs for 4-year-old fillies entered for $10,500 to $12,500 claimers. Super Flo, beaten a neck on Jan. 20, and the maiden winner Nice But Easy, lead a field of nine.

There are nine starters in the sixth race, a sprint for $28,000 to $32,000 claimers over 5 1-2 furlongs. Philly Bulldog, second in a starter allowance on Feb. 6 at Bay Meadows, will be part of the pace.

The featured seventh race could give Sherwood Park his second win in his fourth career start. He was a game second on Jan. 29, his first start since last May. Sherwood Park has drawn post 5 in a field of 14 that will have a safety limit of 10 starters.

The final race is a sprint over 5 1-2 furlongs for maiden claimers. Not surprisingly, the race lacks depth. Matty G Whiz, who placed in two sprints at Emerald Downs last August, returns from a layoff.
