Santa Anita Carryover at $151,840

ARCADIA, Calif.-The first Sunday of the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting is highlighted by a carryover of $151,840.

The bet was so difficult on Saturday that no tickets had five winners. Consolation tickets with four winners were worth $2,602.

Sunday's pick six covers the fourth through ninth races, including the $150,000 San Gabriel Handicap over 1 1-8 miles on turf. Three of the races are for maiden claimers.

The feature is led by Redattore, the 8-5 morning line favorite and the winner of the Citation Handicap last month.

There is only one scratch in the pick six races - Blairs General in the fifth race.

The fourth race is run over 6 1-2 furlongs, a maiden claimer for 2-year-olds that has drawn nine runners. Yogi's and Ice it Honey are top contenders.

The fifth race has been reduced to 10 starters. Puma is the 7-2 morning-line favorite in an open race.

The sixth race is run over a mile for maiden claimers. Gross Margin, who has drawn the outside in a field of eight, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite.

In the seventh race, Pesci, co-owned by actor Joe Pesci, is 2-1 on the morning-line to remain undefeated. Run Rebecca Run, a promising filly trained by Bob Baffert, and The Candi Queen, a 17-length winner at Hollywood Park in her last start, are other contenders in an optional claimer over 1 1-16 miles.

Redattore drew the outside post in a field of nine in the Citation. Continental Red, Fateful Dream, and Sign of the Wolf may threaten the favorite.

The last race is a sprint for 2-year-old maiden claimers. Lobsteratthepalms, Purple Toi and Ce Fitzrovia are top contenders.
