Santa Anita adds Thursday to next week's schedule

Santa Anita will race next Thursday as a makeup day for recent cancellations caused by rain. Santa Anita will race Thursday-Sunday next week.

The track will revert to a Friday through Sunday schedule from March 17 through April 9. There is no racing scheduled for April 14-16 to give the turf course, horses and human participants a rest.

Racing will resume on April 22. The winter-spring season runs through June 18.

The March 12 program is led by the Grade 3 Santa Ana Stakes, a $100,000 race for fillies and mares at 1 1/4 miles on turf. Rhea Moon will probably run in the Santa Ana if she works well this weekend, trainer Phil D’Amato said Friday. She has not raced since a win in the Grade 1 American Oaks for 3-year-old fillies over the same course and distance on Dec. 26.
