Horses based at Hastings dominated the $100,000 Freedom of the City for 2-year-old fillies at Century Downs Saturday. Sangria took control of the 7 1/2-furlong race at the top of the stretch and held off Enchanted Lady to win by a length.  Pearl of Knowledge, who finished third as the favorite, finished fourteen and one quarter lengths behind Enchanted Lady. Ridden by Rico Walcott, Sangria posted a final time of 1:30.82 and paid $11.40. The $2 exacta paid $38.80. A British Columbia-bred daughter of Sungold, Sangria is trained by Barbara Heads. She was bred by her ownners Russell and Lois Bennett. Hidden Grace, $4.10, kept her perfect record intact with an impressive win in the $50,000 CTHS Sales Stakes for fillies and mares.  Despite going four wide into the first turn and setting an extremely fast half-mile time of 44.89 seconds, she was able to fend off Raider to win the seven-furlong dash by a half-length. A Ring 'n a Rose finished third. The final time was 1:23.50. Hidden Grace was ridden by Renaldo Cumberbatch for trainer Michael Nault. It was the ninth win for the Manitoba-bred daughter of Going Commando. Going Commando also sired Escape Clause, the best horse ever bred in Manitoba. Escape Clause won this race as a 3-year-old in 2017 and repeated in it last year. Hidden Grace is owned by Barry Arnason, Cam Ziprick, and Charles Fouillard.
