San Simeon Stakes pushed back one day to Sunday

ARCADIA, Calif. – Because of its five-horse field on a card that has several stakes with short fields, Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes on the hillside turf course at Santa Anita has been postponed from Saturday to Sunday, racing officials said on Wednesday.
The remaining four stakes Saturday had small fields as of late Wednesday morning. The Grade 3 Santa Ana Stakes, the Grade 1 Kilroe Mile, and the Grade 2 San Carlos Stakes each had six entrants, while the Grade 1 Beholder Mile had seven entrants.
Racing officials opted to postpone the San Simeon and use an allowance race with a large field in its place for Saturday’s program.
The San Simeon field is expected to include Air Vice Marshal, Cistron, La Sardane, Law Abidin Citizen, and Mesut. There are now four stakes on Sunday, including the $100,000 Sensational Star, $100,000 Irish O’Brien, and $75,000 Santana Mile.
