Samantha Randazzo named Jockey Club steward at Finger Lakes
Samantha Randazzo, a steward with experience at tracks in Minnesota, Florida, Illinois, and New Jersey, has been named The Jockey Club steward at Finger Lakes racetrack, the Jockey Club announced on Wednesday.
Randazzo, who received her stewards’ accreditation certificate after working in the barn of Linda Rice for 27 years, will fill the seat most recently held by Don Combs, who resigned earlier this year due to health problems. Randazzo also has a law degree.

Randazzo will start in her new position on Aug. 3. Finger Lakes reopened last week for a brief meet.
“Samantha brings a diverse background to her new position as The Jockey Club’s steward at Finger Lakes,” said Stuart Janney, the chairman of The Jockey Club. “Her time as an assistant trainer, state steward and safety steward, combined with her law degree, make her well equipped to uphold the integrity of horse racing in this role.”
Under New York racing law, The Jockey Club is provided one seat in the stewards’ stand at the state’s Thoroughbred racetracks.
