Sam Houston: Triumph and Song wins turf debut in Bucharest Stakes

Triumph and Song won his turf debut in powerful fashion Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park, rolling to a 2 1/2-length win over Solar Charge in the $50,000 Bucharest Stakes. It was the third consecutive win for Triumph and Song and his second straight in a stakes, following his victory in the $50,000 Spirit of Texas at Sam Houston.
Triumph and Song ($3.20) was in command from the start of the five-furlong race for Texas-breds, taking the field through an opening quarter in 22.04 seconds and a half-mile in 45.48. He went on to cover the distance on firm ground in 57.55.
Junior Chacaltana was aboard Triumph and Song for trainer Karl Broberg. The horse earned $30,000 for the win for H and H Ranch and improved his career record to 8 for 15 for earnings of $220,556. Triumph and Song is a 5-year-old by My Golden Song who was bred by Victoria Ashford and Dr. Troy Carmichael.
