Sam Houston: Triumph and Song wins Sam Houston Sprint Cup

Triumph and Song won his third stakes race of the Sam Houston meet Saturday night, when he held on for a neck win over Silver Lining John in the $50,000 Sam Houston Sprint Cup.
Heitai, coming off a track-record-setting performance at Delta Downs, was scratched.
Triumph and Song ($2.80) set fractions of 22.03 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.32 for the half-mile before covering six furlongs on a fast track in 1:09.39.
"This is one of the best horses I have ever ridden," said winning jockey Junior Chacaltana. "He's fast, got a lot of heart, and never quits."
Karl Broberg trains Triumph and Song for H and H Ranch. He said the horse could make his next start in the $50,000 Premiere Stakes at Lone Star Park on April 10.
Triumph and Song's other wins at Sam Houston this meet came in the Spirit of Texas and Bucharest stakes.
