Sakhee guns for Classic again

Godolphin has confirmed that Sakhee will remain in training next year as a 5-year-old.

A son of Bahri, Sakhee came close to pulling off an improbable Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe/Breeders' Cup Classic double when he was nipped on the line by Tiznow at Belmont Park on Saturday. He will have the Dubai World Cup as his main early target in 2002, then be prepared for a second attempt at the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Sakhee is scheduled to fly directly from New York to Dubai before the end of the week.

Meanwhile, Godolphin has fortified its already powerful stable with the purchase of Grandera on Tuesday from Lael Stable and Mrs. Viv Shelton. A 3-year-old colt by Grand Lodge, Grandera broke an unlucky six-race losing streak when he won the listed Arc Trial at Newbury on Sept. 22.
