Sailingforthesun will try equipment change for sprint feature

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Sailingforthesun will try to get back on track when she runs in a first-level allowance race for 3-year-old fillies Saturday at Hastings. The 6 1/2-furlong sprint, which also carries a $25,000 claiming option, drew six horses.
Despite basically being eased in her last start in a similar race May 23, Sailingforthesun looks like the one to catch and beat. Trained by Robbie Anderson, Sailingforthesun was an impressive front-running winner with Richard Hamel aboard in a maiden special race going 6 1/2 furlongs May 10. She came back in a first-level allowance race, and was sitting just off the leader and eventual six-length winner Meg Giry when she inexplicably stopped suddenly going down the backstretch.
According to Anderson, she swallowed her tongue, and he said she will be running with a tongue tie for the first time Saturday.
“She doesn’t really like it, but she’s starting to get used to it,” he said. “I knew something was off when she stopped so quickly. She’s a better filly than that. “
The tongue tie didn’t seem to be bothering her when she worked a bullet four furlongs in 46.60 seconds last Sunday.
Hamel retains the mount and will likely put her on the lead if she breaks alertly leaving from post 2.

KEY CONTENDERS
Sailingforthesun (Last 3 Beyers: 0-71-28)
◗ A half-sister to multiple stakes winners Slewpast and Gosailgo, she showed a lot of promise when she easily handled next-out winner Bold N Lovely in her first start this year and just second overall.
◗ She looks like the speed of the speed, and should be gone if she breaks on top.
Ambleside Park (Last 3 Beyers: 59-54-50)
◗ She rallied to finish a distant second in the same race Sailingforthesun exits, and there should be speed coming back to her.
◗ Her lone win came going around three turns in the $75,000 Fantasy, and trainer Dave Forster is probably looking at this race as a prep for the 1 1/16-mile $50,000 Supernaturel on July 1.
Susan’s Day (Last 3 Beyers: 49-59-36)
◗ Also trained by Forster, she too probably wants more distance. However, she may have tipped her hand with she worked a bullet four furlongs in 46.20 seconds last Saturday, and could be coming up to a peak performance in the third start of her form cycle.
