Sailing Solo leads throughout in Mecke; Violent Times comes from off pace in Ana T.

Sailing Solo took the lead at the start of the $60,000 Mecke at Gulfstream Park and never relinquished it for a three-length win in the Saturday co-feature. The $60,000 Ana T., went to Violent Times.
The Mecke, for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on turf, and the Ana T., for fillies and mares at six furlongs, were both overnight stakes.
Sailing Solo ($5.40) broke well from his rail post and set fractions of 23.23 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.03 for the half-mile, and 1:10.79 for six furlongs. In the stretch he had more, and covered the distance on a course rated good in 1:34.68.
Edgar Prado was aboard for owner and trainer Louie Roussel III. It was the sixth win from 14 starts for Sailing Solo, who has now earned $173,875. He is a son of Smart Strike and the multiple Grade 1-winning mare Proviso, who earned $1.7 million.

Harbour Master finished second in the Mecke, a length and a half in front of third-place finisher Galleon Mast.
Violent Times ($12.20) rallied in the stretch for a 2 1/2-length win over Heiressall in the Ana T. It was another neck back in third to odds-on favorite Lady’s Island.
Violent Times settled in third as Lady’s Island set fractions of 22.04 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.78 for the half-mile. The winner moved to the lead inside the final sixteenth of a mile and covered the distance on a track rated fast in 1:10.89.
