S Y Sky sidelined until winter

DEL MAR, Calif. – The two-time stakes winner S Y Sky is out until the winter with an undisclosed injury.
S Y Sky was recently sent from Del Mar to owner and breeder Nick Alexander’s farm in central California, trainer Phil D’Amato said. D’Amato said S Y Sky had developed “a little issue” that will keep her out of training until the Santa Anita winter meeting.
“She needs a little R and R,” he said.
A 3-year-old filly, S Y Sky was considered for the $150,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for California-bred fillies on Sunday before she was sidelined. She worked five furlongs last Saturday. The injury was detected before Fleet Treat entries were taken on Thursday.

◗ Jockey Santiago Gonzalez has been suspended three days, next Wednesday through Friday, for causing interference in Wednesday’s Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar.
Gonzalez was cited for his ride on Hard Aces, who finished second in the race at 1 1/2 miles, a nose behind Curlin Road. Hard Aces drifted out in the stretch and made contact with Curlin Road.
Gonzalez claimed foul against Curlin Road, alleging interference, but the stewards did not change the order of finish.
