Ryan Moore Blog: Preis der Diana ‐ German Oaks Day
Dusseldorf | Race 5: Preis der Diana ‐ German Oaks
I’m looking forward to the trip to Dusseldorf on Sunday for the German Oaks.
GARDEN OF EDEN has improved throughout the season, especially as she’s gone up in trip.
She was a good winner at Naas (2100m) and then followed that up nicely at Ascot over further in the Ribblesdale Stakes (2400m). That form gives her leading claims in here.
We’re drawn 12 of 15, which is a fairly wide draw in a big field for this race. It’s a sharp first turn that comes up quite quickly and it’s a tricky track, so you need a good early position and things to go your way.
Hopefully the ground isn’t too soft, as she’s yet to be tried on anything with much give in it and I’m not sure how she’d handle it.
Godolphin have supplemented Spirited Style. She brings a fair level of form to the table and has to be respected, while Santagada looks the strongest of the German fillies.
Lady Charlotte also looks like one of the better German fillies having contested the German Derby earlier in July.
