Ruth Less Blue leads all the way to win Vandal

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Ruth Less Blue ran them off their feet in the $150,000 Vandal Stakes, leading all the way in the six-furlong sprint for Ontario-bred 2-year-olds Saturday at Woodbine.
Ruth Less Blue ($3.60) was uncontested from the outset and proceeded to set moderate fractions under Michelle Rainford. His lead shrunk to a half-length early in the stretch, and he ducked in from right-handed whipping at the eighth and sixteenth poles before holding sway to prevail by a half-length in 1:10.71.
Conquest Daddyo rallied on the outside to finish second, and Get’erdonebud weakened to third after taking a run at Ruth Less Blue at the three-sixteenths pole.
Ruth Less Blue earned $90,000 for Rijack Farm and Ace Racing Stable. Trainer Scott Fairlie sent him out to finish second at first asking July 5 in the Clarendon Stakes before a fast maiden win 13 days ago.
“I’ve always loved this horse,” said Fairlie. “I knew he was a runner from the start.”
