Russell Baze injures neck in spill at Golden Gate Fields

ALBANY, Calif. – X-rays were negative after Hall of Fame jockey Russell Baze injured his neck when dumped by Joffe’s Run prior to the running of the first race at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.

Baze was taken to Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, but the X-rays were clean. His neck was sprained and bruised, but he is listed as day-to-day and may be able to ride Sunday.
