Running Aces: Tony Kerwood joins 5,000 win club
Driver Tony Kerwood achieved a significant milestone in Tuesday night's tenth and final race at Running Aces Casino & Racetrack in Minnesota, winning the 5,000th race of his career.
Kerwood was in the bike behind Intrigued Again, and the 5-year-old Big Jim stallion was able to rally off a second-over trip to win by three-parts of a length in 1:56 1/5. Kerwood also bred, owns, and trains Intrigued Again.
A long-time competitor on the Ontario Jockey Club and then Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, Kerwood is probably best known for being the regular driver of $1.5 million winner Stout. He also piloted $2.4 million earner Dreamfair Eternal for most of 2009, winning the C$343,712 Roses Are Red final with her at Mohawk in 1:49 2/5 at odds of 29-1. They were reunited once in 2010 and took the $160,000 Artiscape at Tioga Downs in 1:49 4/5.
