Runaway Ghost completes sweep of Sunland's biggest races with Handicap victory

Runaway Ghost darted to a 5 1/4- length win over Lookin At Lee in the $150,000 Sunland Park Handicap on Saturday. It was another neck back in third to American Dubai.
Runaway Ghost has now won Sunland’s richest races for 3-year-olds and for older horses. Last year, he won the Grade 3, $800,000 Sunland Derby. Both of the races were run over a mile and an eighth.
Runaway Ghost ($3) tracked American Dubai through an opening quarter in 24.16 seconds, with the remaining fractional times unavailable during to a timer malfunction, according to a chart of the race. Runaway Ghost took over through six furlongs, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:48.10.
Santiago Gonzalez was aboard for trainer Todd Fincher.
Runaway Ghost, who was the 123-pound highweight, is a son of Ghostzapper who races for his breeder, Joe Peacock. Runaway Ghost has now won 7 of 11 starts and $744,224
Mine That Bird led the post parade in honor of the 10th anniversary in the 2009 Kentucky Derby.
