Run Snappy possible for Bob Hope Stakes
ARCADIA, Calif. - Run Snappy could start in the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes at Del Mar on Nov. 15 after winning his first start on dirt at Santa Anita on Saturday.
Run Snappy led throughout a maiden special weight race at 5 1/2 furlongs, drawing clear by 4 3/4 lengths. The colt is by the heavily promoted stallion Runhappy and races for Hronis Racing and trainer John Sadler.
At the Del Mar summer meeting, Run Snappy was fifth and sixth in maiden special weight races at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf.
“He didn’t get away very good the first time,” Sadler said. “I was shocked he didn’t run well the second time. This horse doesn’t like the turf. My mistake for having him on the wrong surface.

“He’s fast.”
The $100,000 Bob Hope Stakes is run at seven furlongs.
In Saturday’s race, Run Snappy was the subject of an inquiry regarding an incident at the three-eighths pole when eventual third-place finisher Santos to Wilson was checked when Run Snappy drifted to the inside. The stewards did not change the order of finish but sanctioned winning jockey Alexis Centeno with a four-day suspension for “crossing over without sufficient clearance,” according to a ruling published Sunday.
The suspension covers racing days from Oct. 11-12 and 16-17 and was the second incident of careless riding in the last 60 days for Centeno, a 27-year-old apprentice.
