Run Hide My Girl returned rapid dividends to her new connections when she outfought heavily favored Parc Monceau through the stretch to win Friday night’s $75,000 Gold Coast Stakes at Delta Downs.
Claimed for $20,000 on Feb. 28 by trainer Ron Faucheux on behalf of What Else Racing, the 4-year-old Run Hide My Girl ($16.20) was stretching out from 6 1/2 furlongs to a mile. She had finished a distant second to Parc Monceau nearly two months ago in the one-mile El Dorado.
Racing on a sloppy, sealed track under C.J. McMahon, Run Hide My Girl saw 2-5 favorite Parc Monceau get within a head with a furlong remaining, but repelled her bid and prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:39.86. It was another 3 1/4 lengths back to Handmade in third.
