Run to the Beat light on racing, heavy on talent
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – With time running out for turf racing at the meet, Run to the Beat will try to remain unbeaten over Woodbine’s expansive course in the featured second-level optional claimer for fillies and mares on Friday.
The 3-year-old Run to the Beat wound up fifth after a slow start at Gulfstream in March in her first race, after which she went to the sidelines.
Run to the Beat returned from a six-month layoff Sept. 2, coming from third to land a maiden special weight sprint over a modest group. She subsequently doubled up in a first-level allowance, defeating a solid field that included Street Cash and Kasuga.
On Friday, Run to the Beat stretches out from six to seven furlongs, with Patrick Husbands subbing for the suspended Eurico Da Silva in the irons.
The feature goes as race 8 on a nine-race card that has two other grass events. The temporary rail will be in the outermost lane 5.
