Ruis moves majority of stable to Keeneland

ARCADIA, Calif. – Owner Mick Ruis, who has campaigned Grade 1 winners Bolt d’Oro and Union Strike, said Friday that he has moved the majority of his stable to Keeneland for that track’s April meeting and plans to resume racing in California later in the spring.
Ruis said he will have a few California-bred runners at Santa Anita in coming weeks, but that his daughter Shelbe, who trains the stable, is going to Keeneland with a small group of horses. Shelbe Ruis is scheduled to return to California in May with approximately 15 horses, five of whom will be statebred 2-year-olds nearing their first start, Mick Ruis said.
Santa Anita is preparing a resumption of racing on Friday after conducting an investigation earlier in March into a rash of equine fatalities this year. Racing was last held on March 3.
Bolt d’Oro, who is now at stud in Kentucky, was a three-time stakes winner for Ruis and one of the leading 2-year-olds of 2017.
