The field has closed as the 2-1 favorite for the second annual All American Future Wager for Quarter Horses. The bet was offered by Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico, which each Labor Day runs the prestigious All American Futurity. The future wager opened July 15, and closed Saturday night at 10 p.m. Mountain.\r\nMighty B Valiant, who on Sunday finished fifth as the favorite in the Grade 1, $700,000 Rainbow Futurity at Ruidoso Downs, was the 9-2 second choice in the All American Future Wager. The third choice at 5-1 was High Rate of Return.\r\nHandle on the All American Future Wager was $8,301, down 48 percent from last year&rsquo;s $16,103, according to figures provided by Ruidoso Downs. Of the total bet into the future pool this year, $5,354 was wagered ontrack at Ruidoso, up from $5,199 in 2010. \r\nThere were 23 individual betting interests, as well as an additional interest serving as a field bet. Last year, no individual betting interests qualified for the All American. The race winner, 21-1 shot Mr Piloto, paid $11 on a field ticket in the future wager.\r\nThis year, the purse for the All American will be a record $2.4 million. Trials for the race are Aug. 18.\r\nThe future wager was designed to increase exposure for the All American.
