Racetrack Television Network, a subscription television and streaming service, will offer livestreams of the panels at the University of Arizona Global Symposium on Racing again this year, the company announced Tuesday. The package will be available for $149, RTN said, with all proceeds contributed to the Race Track Industry Program, the educational program at Arizona that administers the annual conference. The package will enable buyers to watch the panels on tablets, smartphones, personal computers, and on televisions equipped with Roku or Amazon Fire devices. This is the third year that RTN will provide the service. RTN started the service in 2021, when the pandemic complicated travel for many people. “We continue to see growth in our international audience and understand that travel may not be possible for some,” said Robert Hartman, the chair of the RTIP. “We feel it is critical to make these panel sessions available to everyone.” The Global Symposium on Racing is the largest conference of its kind in the United States. Scheduled this year for Dec. 4-6, the conference has been put on by the RTIP in Tucson for 49 years. Panels this year include discussions around the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, the criteria for disqualifications, the impact of track closures, the growth of computer-assisted wagering, the economic impact of racing, the mental health and emotional well-being of jockeys, and the protocols used by racing investigatory teams. In addition, one panel will gather together Steven Crist, Andrew Beyer, and Jay Privman “for an engaging discussion about horses and handicapping.” All three are former writers for Daily Racing Form. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
