SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Crimson Advocate, the George Weaver-trained 2-year-old filly who shipped to England to win the Grade 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot in June, returned to the work tab Sunday, breezing three furlongs in 38.73 seconds over the Oklahoma turf course. Weaver is targeting the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita for Crimson Advocate, but has not yet decided if she would have a start in between. “We’ll just see how it goes,” Weaver said. “If it looks like there’s time for a prep we’ll do it, but I don’t feel like she needs a prep. If we get to one that makes sense then we could.” On Oct. 8, Aqueduct hosts the Futurity and Matron, both Grade 3 stakes at six furlongs on turf for 2-year-olds, and 2-year-old fillies, respectively. The Futurity is a Win and You’re In for the Juvenile Turf Sprint, the Matron is not. That same day, Keeneland hosts the $250,000 Indian Summer for 2-year-olds at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf. :: Bet with the Best! Get Free DRF PPs and Cashback when you wager. Join DRF Bets. Prior to winning at Ascot, Crimson Advocate finished third to Brightwork in a 4 1/2-furlong dirt race at Keeneland before winning the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies Turf at Gulfstream Park, which earned her a fees-paid berth to Royal Ascot. Brightwork has come back to win three consecutive stakes, including Sunday’s Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
