Roy H likely headed straight to Breeders' Cup Sprint

DEL MAR, Calif. – Roy H, the champion sprinter for the last two years, is unlikely to have a prep race in advance of an intended start in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint on Nov. 2 at Santa Anita, trainer Peter Miller said.
Miller said Wednesday that Roy H is doubtful for the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship on Oct. 5.
“I think we’re running out of time for the Santa Anita Sprint,” Miller said.
Roy H has not raced since a win in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Stakes on Jan. 19 at Santa Anita. He missed a scheduled start in the Group 1 Golden Shaheen Sprint in Dubai in March because of a foot ailment.
“His feet have been off and on,” Miller said.
Miller said there is a chance Roy H will miss the BC Sprint, which he won at Del Mar in 2017 and at Churchill Downs last year.
“It’s not a guarantee,” Miller said. “He’s training good now.
“He owes me nothing, and I owe him everything.”
Owned by Rockingham Ranch and David Bernsen, Roy H has won 10 of 23 starts and earned $3,139,765.
