Rosecroft: You'll Never Be Me, Hoofbeats De Vie retain Maryland Sire Stakes crowns
Two-year-old trotters You'll Never Be Me and Hoofbeats De Vie repeated their wins in the Maryland Sire Stakes finals last month at Ocean Downs by winning again in Rosecroft Raceway's edition of those $70,000 races on Sunday night. Both horses were driven by Russell Foster.
In the contest for filly trotters, You'll Never Be Me led through fractions of 27 4/5, 57 3/5, and 1:28 1/5 on her way to winning by eight lengths in 2:01 2/5. Charlie's Song (Roger Plante Jr.) was second and Lady Eleanor (Jared Moyer) came in third.
A daughter of Cam's Rocket, You'll Never Be Me was bred by owner/trainer Richard Hans. This was her fourth win in her sixth start, and she has now earned $89,250. Her dam, the Tejano mare My Baby Momma, is a half-sister to Googoo Gaagaa.
Hoofbeats De Vie delivered in the male trot, carving out stations of 29 3/5, 1:00 4/5, and 1:30 1/5, then using a 29 1/5 final kicker to prevail by 5 3/4 lengths in 1:59 2/5. Whitesville Mr Aw (W. David Hill III) was the runner-up, and Bonjour Mary Ellen (Jim Morand) checked in third.
Chris Lakata trains Hoofbeats De Vie for owner/breeder Joie De Vie Farm. Hoofbeats De Vie, a gelded son of Charlie De Vie-Velma K, has a record of 6-0-0 from seven tries, and he has banked $84,540.
While those events were both non-wagering affairs, the finals for pacers took place on the pari-mutuel card. In the dash for fillies, Predict The Future (Plante Jr.) sat in the pocket as Maleficent K (Mark Gary) led through a 27 second opening quarter, a 57 second half, and a 1:26 three-quarters. Predict The Future then kicked home in 30 3/5 to get up and defeat Maleficent K by a length and a quarter in 1:57, with favored Connies All In (Jared Moyer) third after making a break after the start.
Predict The Future, a daughter of Rusty's All In-Jo Pa's Eato, is trained by Steve Le Blanc for owner/breeder Dr. William Solomon. Predict The Future made her third appearance in the winner's circle, and she has now put away $62,487. Sent off at 14-1, she paid $30.60 to win.

Donnys All In (Moyer) led a John Wagner-trained, Pamela Wagner-bred-and-owned exacta in the tilt for colts and geldings. After hiting the quarter in 28 seconds, Donnys All In yielded to stablemate Anthonys All In (Morand), who went on to reach the half in 57 4/5 and the three-quarters in 1:27 1/5. In the lane Donnys All In paced back into the lead, and he would go on to beat Anthonys All In by a length and a half in 1:56 4/5. Rapid Pulse (Jason Thompson) got third.
The winner is by Rusty's All In and out of Mystical Madison (Cam's Card Shark). Donnys All In is now a two-time winner from ten trips behind the gate, and he has now pocketed $65,964. Dispatched at 2-1, Donnys All In returned $6.20 to win.
