Rosecroft: Val's Girl is a perfect ten in Maryland Sire Stakes final
Val's Girl improved to ten-for-ten to start her career with a 1:53 1/5 win in the $75,000 Maryland Sire Stakes final for rookie pacing fillies on Thursday evening at Rosecroft Raceway.
Driven by Roger Plante Jr. for trainer Steve Le Blanc, Val's Girl took over the lead past the 27 second opening quarter, went on to hit the half in 56 2/5 and the three-quarters in 1:24 2/5, and used a 28 4/5 final kicker to defeat pocket-sitter Spy's Last Game (Russell Foster) by a length and three-quarters. Joyces Real Honey (Victor Kirby) was third.
The victorious Rusty's For Real-Miss Valerie filly is trained by Le Blanc for owners Leblanc Racing Inc., William Lutz Jr., and Count De Money Stable. Val's Girl, bred by Thomas and Linda Winebrener, has pocketed $114,203 to go with her undefeated status, and she returned $2.60 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
Jonathan Roberts drove the winners of both trotting finals on the card, taking the tilt for the boys with Tenouttaten in 2:01 1/5 for breeder/owner/trainer Kerry Welty and the filly flight with Call Me Goo in 1:56 4/5 for trainer Jason Skinner and owner Graham Grace Stables LLC. Tenouttaten is a Cam's Rocket gelding and Call Me Goo is a daughter of Googoo Gaagaa bred by Bib Roberts.

Babes All In chose a fine time to break in maiden in the colt and gelding pace, going all the way on the lead and tallying in 1:52 1/5 with Jared Moyer in the bike for breeder/owner/trainer Ronald Short. Babes All In is a Rusty's All In gelding.
