Race 1 - Open Handicap Trot
(8) PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE is back in the Open for the 4th start in a row. He'll need a trip from post 8 and very capable of getting job done. (6) MIND YOWN BUSINESS surprised me last week from post 9 with a solid performance in nw3000 level. Tonight tries the Open ranks with good starting spot! (7) JUDGE BOB was Jonathan Roberts' choice between him and (9) FASHION SMILE. Sat on the rail and picked up a check finishing 3rd! Likely same trip again this week!
Race 2 - MD Preferred NW2 Or NW3 that are NW race in last 6 starts
(8) DR NIPNTUCK won in the lower level 2 back and on the outside for most of the race last week finishing 3rd to REDEMPTION BLUECHIP. (4) TOTALLY MINE needed the last race after being off a month with post 7. Moves inside with speed inside and Kim Vincent drives again. (5) MISTER MCSKINNY gets John Wagner back up after a couple tries with Jared Moyer driving to 2 checks in a row.
Race 3 - MD Preferred NW $1,250 Last 4 starts or $12,500 in 2019
(4) A WILD IMPULSE needed last start after 3 weeks off and now you get J Rob in the bike this week! Speed of the race goes thru him! (3) BECKETT HANOVER is 1 for 33 this season but likes to finish underneath a good bit in 2019. Very capable of winning here if the right trip is in the cards. (5) ELECTRICCONNECTION gets a better draw tonight for driver/trainer/owner Michael Greene and likely gets him involved early on with speed to his inside!
Race 4 - MD Preferred NW1
(6) HILLBILLYCAMTASTIC left for the lead and sat in the pocket to finish 3rd. Draws well for new trainer Brian Callahan and regular driver Frank Milby stays on. (3) LILYELOWJACKET KIR has been racing quite well for trainer Belinda Hughes since coming from Canada. Will need a trip but capable of winning sooner or later! (5) EARN MY STRIPES 8th career start this evening in which this filly by Mach Three has been improving each race. Driver Kim Vincent gets the assignment!
Race 5 - MD Preferred NW $1,250 Last 4 starts or $12,500 in 2019
(6) BLUE FOX drops down in class after racing against tougher lately. Good post and add John Wagner this week! (3) BP BURNER on the outside for most of the mile after 3 weeks off finishing 2nd to SPINOUT. Driver change to Kim Vincent! (5) ITS OUTTA HERE has sat on the rail the last several starts getting 4th the last 3 races. Allan Davis pilots this evening!
Race 6 - MD Preferred NW $2,500 last 4 starts or $17,500 in 2019
(4) STANHOPE 1st over last week finishing 4th as the 2nd choice. Now jumps up in class with Wagner this week and if he races like he did on 9/29, it's over! (2) CELTIC THUNDER didn't race too badly in 1st start since 6/5 at Ocean Downs finishing 3rd from post 9! Now draws better this week and we'll see what John MacKinnon can do from there. (3) PANSFORMATIVE gets a much-deserved drop in class against the likes of ATOMIC ART, SWORD OFTHE SPIRIT AND IDEAL PERFECT TEN. Trip dependent as per usual but driver Jason Thompson will try to guide him to glory!
Race 7 - **Start of the $5,000 Guaranteed PK5 Pool with 12% Takeout** MD Preferred NW $4,001 last 4 starts or $22,500 in 2019
(9) OFFICER WHOLIHAN drops slightly in class this week after racing well 2 back and the dreaded 9 hole doesn't help either. If anyone can maneuver him from this spot it's John Wagner! Consider in pk5! (3) BEAMMEUPSCOTTIE has struggled the last couple weeks but can regain into form at anytime. 7 for 33 on the year with a seasonal mark of 1:53.2! (1) TALKING BLUES raced well last 2 starts with a win in bottom level then jumps up to nw4000 to grab 4th! Declan Donoway with the steer!
Race 8 - MD Preferred NW $2,500 last 4 starts or $17,500 in 2019
(5) LAST SHOT LEETON sat the pocket and had a troubled trip after the 3 qtr pole trying to get out. Allan Davis was able to maneuver thru horses but missed by a neck to ATOMIC ART. I'm going back to him tonight as a value player! (1) WILLIE JOE HILL left last week and nearly wired the field getting caught late. Has the rail this week and moving to nw2500 from the $7,500 claiming ranks. (3) THAT'S MY HARLEY moving up in class after finishing 2nd in bottom level. Add Brian Sears in the bike! Probably have to use in Pk5 as well.
Race 9 - $100,000 Potomac Pace Invitational
(2) AMERICAN HISTORY raced the race of his life last time out at Woodbine-Mohawk Park beating many great horses to the punch. Tonight he faces 7 other foes with 4 of them coming from the Breeders Crown Final. Likely leaving from this prime spot and if the fractions are right? Expect his 2nd win in a row and your 4th Annual Potomac Pace winner! (7) MCWICKED I could talk all day about his accomplishments and what's he has done in his career to this point. Winner of 4.9 million plus 40 lifetime wins in 109 starts. He'll need a trip from post 7 and it's not impossible here. (1) DEALT A WINNER he's my sneaky wild card pick to hit the board at a nice price. Has done nothing wrong in last 2 month racing primarily in Pennsylvania. You get the Buckeye Dave Miller in the sulky and if he gets a pocket trip like I think he gets, things could get exciting down the stretch!
Race 10 - MD Preferred NW $4,000 last 4 starts or $28,000 in 2019
(1) REDWOOD AGAIN gets a driver switch to Yannick Gingras this week with speed on the rail. If he rates it well, it could be over quickly for the rest of the group. (5) B A ROCKET leaves the claiming ranks this week to try nw4000 company. He'll try to give REDWOOD AGAIN fits if possible but if he gets by him then could get real interesting late. (4) HEY DALI is another one moving into this class after several tries in the claimers, has the ability to brush by both if fractions are fast enough early on.
Race 11 - $25,000 MD Invitational for MD Owned Sired Bred or Foaled Horses
(6) SAMS TRIPLE CROWN draws much better this week plus gets a great starting spot with the driver who gets along with him best in John Wagner. Winner of 22 of 89 races for $192k plus lifetime. In my opinion, you won't see 12-1 ML for a caliber horse of this type go off at. Expect him to close late and hard! USING! (1) ROCKTAVIUS was 3 wide in the 1st qtr pole last week, then parked 1st over until the 3 qtr pole then fights back on the inside to defeat JW RENEGADE in the stretch. He'll need a monster effort like that again to win 2 in a row! Lifetime mark of 1:50.3 was set 2 years ago on Pace Night nonetheless. (3) ROMANTIC INTEREST has raced very well here the entire meet thus far. Last start on 10/28 he was 1st up but got tired right at the end to finish a good 3rd. Expect Frank Milby and ROMANTIC INTEREST to be 1st up again, trying to grind out a win.
Race 12 - MD Preferred NW $4,000 last 4 starts or $27,500 in 2019
(3) CAPITAL BUILDER takes a decent sized drop in class and draws inside this week. Won 7 of 29 this season and my top call! (5) SWORD OFTHE SPIRIT has been super impressive the last 2 starts in which the ‘Hanover Hustler’ gave you both those winners to boot on top. Gets in on the $28,000 in 2019 condition by $438 dollars. Consider in double as well! (6) ARTIC ADVENTURE gets pocket trip after pocket trip each week and can't finish it off. Very nice horse by the way as well and now moves up in class. Expect another 2 hole trip this week!
Race 13 - MD Preferred W/O 3PM or $20,000 lifetime but not more than 7PM races or $45,000 lifetime
(5) DANCE ON THE BEACH moves up slightly in class after a nice win in nw4000 last week. He'll need a trip this week more than likely if he'll repeat! Worth a stab in the final race! (1) ARDYNE SPORTSTAR was claimed for $9,375 by trainer Jason Walters for Owner Joseph Plummer. The stone cold closer of the field will come from this nice gelding by Sportswriter. Jonathan Roberts up for 1st time! (3) TRUMP THAT RUSTY needed the last start after being off since mid July. If he behaves at the gate, he'll be in the number somewhere!
