Rosecroft: Potomac Pace attracts stacked field

Breeders Crown champion Dandy Ideal heads a star-studded field of eight top free-for-all pacers to contest Sunday's (Nov. 8) Grade 3 $125,000 Potomac Pace at Rosecroft Raceway.

Dandy Ideal, who rallied off cover to a 1:47 3/5 victory in the $662,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace on Oct. 24 at Eldorado Scioto Downs, has been installed as the 8-5 morning-line favorite. As a 4-year-old, the American Ideal-OK Heavenly gelding has won seven of 12 starts, including the Dan Patch at Harrah's Hoosier Park. His other signature wins include the 2025 Max Hempt Memorial and two Matron Stakes.

Tim Tetrick will drive Dandy Ideal from post 4 for trainer Brett Pelling and owners Susan Oakes and Alan Johnston.

Women Layer, whose cover carried Dandy Ideal to his Breeders Crown triumph, is the 3-1 second choice, and will start from the pole. A 33-time winner in his career, the 5-year-old Sweet Lou-Loreenas Ruffian gelding will be driven by Yannick Gingras for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr.
